My First Blog Post Using Octopress

This is my first blog post using octopress (a blogging framework for hackers) it seems like it might be pretty awesome. I still have a lot to learn about customizing it, I will share what I learn here under the category of blogging.

The first issue I ran into is while hosting my blog on heroku. The documentation does not cover the fact that you need to remove the public directory from your git ignore file in the project. The error I was seeing on heroku was “Sorry, I cannot find /”. This was due to the fact that the public directory where octopress generates its files to was not being included in the git commits/pushes.
